Select Board grants National Grid and Verizon permission to relocate a pole on Maple Street

The Wenham Select Board held a public hearing on Jan. 20 to consider a petition from Massachusetts Electric Company doing business as National Grid and Verizon New England to locate poles and related fixtures on Maple Street.
John Jenkins, a design engineer representing National Grid from the Beverly office, said the company is petitioning to install a single joint pole (J pole number 113-1) between existing poles 113 and 114 to bring power across the street to new construction at Cynthia Circle. Jenkins told the board there should not be an outage to nearby residents for the work.
No members of the public spoke in favor or against the petition, and there were no remote comments. After closing the public hearing, the board moved and voted to grant permission to National Grid and Verizon to relocate the joint pole and do the necessary pole work on Maple Street. The roll-call vote was unanimous.
The authorization includes permitting installation of the joint pole and all appurtenances described in the petition and recorded in the meeting files; the board did not attach additional conditions in the public hearing record.
