Algonac council adopts fireworks-ordinance amendment to ensure fine reimbursement to enforcing agency

City attorneys noted that the city’s current ordinance lacked statutorily required language that ensures the first $500 of a fine imposed is remitted to the issuing agency — in this case the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department — rather than retained in full by the court. Council members moved to introduce the amendment, and later, on the consent agenda, approved adoption of the ordinance amendment by roll call.
The ordinance change corrects the city code to align with statutory requirements identified by the city attorney; council recorded the motion and roll-call vote without additional public comment.
