Town Supervisor Gary Lake told the Warrensburg Town Board that the 2024 final assessment roll, completed and posted July 1, shows the townwide revaluation increased overall assessed values by roughly 35 percent. He said the change should lower the town tax rate, but cautioned that individual property tax bills could still rise or fall depending on each parcel’s new assessment and other taxing jurisdictions.
The supervisor said the final rolls and grievance-hearing information are available at the town clerk’s and assessor’s offices and online. He described the increase as the result of a townwide reevaluation and said small corrections from small-claims proceedings are still possible in August. The board did not take any separate action on the revaluation during the meeting; the roll was posted as completed and available for public review.
Why it matters: a revaluation that raises assessed values tends to lower the municipal tax rate if the town’s revenue requirement does not change, but individual homeowners’ bills can still increase if their property’s assessed value rose faster than the townwide average. The supervisor’s comments framed the change as an administrative update rather than a policy decision.
What’s next: residents with questions were directed to the assessor’s office for parcel-specific figures and to watch for any small-claims adjustments this August as grievance hearings conclude.
