The Arundel Planning Board on Jan. 20 voted unanimously to forward proposed amendments to several sections of the town’s land‑use ordinance to the select board for inclusion on the June 2026 town meeting warrant.
Chair Richard Ganon opened a public hearing on the proposed edits, saying the revisions codify a process for amending approved subdivision and site plans and carve out a narrow category of “minor changes” that would be approved by staff rather than returned to the board. “We now have a process by which to do so,” Ganon said, describing changes that would let the town planner or codes enforcement officer approve small adjustments — for example, movements of a few feet — without bringing applicants back before the board.
The package of edits, described during the hearing as affecting sections referenced in the transcript as 10.1 1.3 (amendments to approved plans), 10.1.4 (minor changes to approved plans) and 10.6.3.3.3 (public hearings), was moved forward on a motion by Paul Green and seconded by Michael Meadow. The board voted unanimously to recommend the amendments for the June warrant.
Town Planner Natasha Kiter participated in the discussion and will work with select board staff on the warrant language and any technical edits. The select board will receive the Planning Board’s recommendation and determine whether to place the amendments on the June town meeting warrant for voter consideration.
