City of Minot staff demonstrated how to renew a remote alarm permit through the city’s online permitting portal, saying the process takes two steps: review and submit updated permit information, then pay the renewal fee.
The staff member said permit holders should first open the link sent by email to the permitting portal, log in, and find the remote alarm business license (the same process applies to residential remote alarm permits). Permit holders are asked to review the information submitted the prior year and update any changes to contact persons and phone numbers.
Before submitting, users must accept the City ordinances and rules that apply to alarm permits. According to the staff member, after confirming the information and accepting the terms, permit holders should click Renew to submit the renewal.
Next, applicants click the credit-card icon next to the $30 remote alarm payment, enter payment information, and complete the transaction. "Your payment is complete and that is all that you need to do," the staff member said; the portal issues an electronic receipt after the payment processes.
The staff member added that renewals are reviewed by city staff and that applicants will receive an email notifying them when they may print the certificate for the upcoming year’s license. The certificate will be available in the permit record’s attachments section and can be provided to insurance companies or kept for other proof of licensure.
The tutorial closed with a reminder that the permitting portal houses both the renewal and the downloadable certificate after review, and that applicants should ensure contact details are current before submitting payment.
