Weatherford City Council on Dec. 2 approved a Chapter 380 economic development agreement to extend utilities to 2538 South Main to support a proposed Buttermilk Sky Pie location.
Ashley Syler, director of economic development, said the project will extend water, wastewater and electric services to the parcel and that the city’s investment is a modest utility extension (she described it as roughly $100,000) intended to spur additional private capital investment in the surrounding parcels near S. Main and BB Fielder.
Council Member Heidi Wilder moved to approve the agreement; the motion was seconded and carried.
Staff said design and construction for the extension will be handled in-house by city crews. Council described the extension as a small public investment to catalyze broader development around a high-visibility commercial corridor.
