Centerville’s council approved two summary-action items on June 2: a lane-striping contract to RW Striping for $35,100 and a trip-hazard grinding contract for sidewalks and ADA ramps to Precision Concrete Cutting for $45,000. Precision was the sole bidder for the grinding work, staff said.
Public works staff explained trip-hazard grinding costs vary by how much concrete needs removal and that the city prioritizes the worst locations first because funding is limited. Council members discussed whether property owners could contribute matching funds to accelerate work in specific locations; staff said a matching program has been used before for sidewalk installation and could be considered for repairs if council directs it.
The contracts were approved on a 4–1 vote. Staff will execute the contracts and schedule the work, and public-works staff recommended property owners contact the city with specific concerns so crews can evaluate potential inclusion in the grinding list.
