CTC rejects bids, redesigns project and names interim director; district to rebid in fall

Officials reporting for the Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technical Center told the Mechanicsburg Area School District board on Aug. 13 that the CTC rejected all construction bids because the results exceeded the project's scope. The architect, Crabtree, has been instructed to value-engineer and redesign the project; the center plans to reissue the bid in the fall and is targeting a new wing to be available by the 2026 school year.
The CTC also reported the resignation of its administrative director, Justin Brun, who accepted a principal position elsewhere. The CTC appointed Rick Muselman as interim administrative director while conducting a search through the Capital Area Intermediate Unit; Muselman was described on the record as an experienced educator who would bridge the transition.
The presenters said that contractor feedback on phasing and scope informed the redesign and that cost estimates are expected to improve with the rebid. No new dollar amounts or revised bid estimates were released during the meeting.
