Amy McElveen, speaking for the committee, said the donation helps fund programming that begins June 29 and runs through the first week of August. She said the contribution supports partnerships—naming the Bristol Riverside Theater and a local paddle-boarding instructor—and makes it possible to provide outdoor experiences and water-safety lessons for children who otherwise might not access them.
“Kids have to understand the tides, currents, and what that all means,” McElveen said, adding that the camp combines academic enrichment with recreational opportunities to attract participants.
Council President DiGirolamo and other council members thanked the committee and noted the donation helps sustain long-running local programming. Organizers said the funds go toward program delivery and related field trips.
