Bristol Borough Council presented a $10,000 check to the Academic Oversight Committee to support the committee’s summer enrichment program, council members said at the June 1 work session.
Amy McElveain, representing the Academic Oversight Committee, said the donation will help run the summer camp that begins June 29 and runs through the first week of August. The program partners with local assets including the Bristol Riverside Theatre and offers activities such as paddleboarding to teach children river safety and awareness of tides and currents.
“This contribution supports an important program for our children and families,” McElveain said, thanking council members and town partners for their collaboration. Councilman Katcherchi presented the check and said the committee has provided sustained value to the borough over many years.
Organizers said the funds will go toward staffing, programming and off‑site trips that broaden participants’ experiences. The AOC and council described the donation as part of ongoing efforts to expand enrichment and keep programs accessible to borough children.
