Batesville approves $350,000 bond, emergency roof and several procurement items

Nuke Benson, the city’s public-works director, told the board MDOT required the city to obtain a $350,000 bond to proceed with the Highway 6 East water-bore project; the board approved the bond request by motion. “MDOT is requiring the city to have this $350,000 bond in order for us to do that work,” Benson said.
The board also approved quotes and purchases presented by staff: a replacement pump for a brush truck was authorized at the low quote of $7,521.50 from Sunbelt Fire and Emergency Equipment (purchase and vendor named on the record), and an emergency roof repair for a city building was approved at $6,113 after staff reported multiple degraded membrane areas and a large missing section.
Civic-center maintenance items were approved as well: the board authorized payment related to an acoustic review and recommended improvements (an invoice/PO cited at about $45,000) and approved a bank-wire deposit request for a contracted artist after the mayor and staff confirmed the city would receive present contract benefits from the payment.
Each purchase or bond request was approved by motion with no recorded opposition; specific contract documents and vendor agreements remain to be finalized in the files.
