Suffern Central board approves consent agenda and tables a civil‑service item for further review

After the retirement recognition concluded, the Suffern Central School District Board of Education reconvened its regular meeting and moved through routine business.

The board took a motion to accept the minutes of the May 19 regular meeting and approved the minutes by voice vote. Trustees then moved to approve a consent agenda covering action items 2.01 and 2.03 through 2.09; that motion was seconded and the board voted to approve the listed consent items.

During consideration of the civil service personnel report (agenda item 2.02) Trustee Donnelly requested that Roman Numeral One be tabled while the board sought a better understanding of what transpired; he asked that the matter be discussed in executive session at a later meeting. The motion to table that specific subsection was seconded and carried, and the board approved the remainder of the civil service report excluding that section.

There were no members of the public who spoke on action items during the public‑comment period. Board members offered brief remarks congratulating retirees and noted the district’s final meeting of the school year is scheduled for June 16 in Hillburn. Because some personnel items required further review, the board moved and voted to adjourn to executive session to complete those items and then end the public meeting.
