Council hears first reading of Longleaf PUD amendments to allow temporary golf-course uses

City staff presented Ordinance 739-2026, amendments to the Longleaf Planned Unit Development to permit temporary uses so the existing Longleaf golf course can open July 1. Changes include temporary pro-shop access at six lots, conversion of an on-site house to a model/vision center, limits on tree clearing and phased tree protection, and a timetable requiring temporary uses to cease by July 31, 2028 (with the permanent clubhouse due by Dec. 31, 2031).
Staff explained the golf course was already constructed and that the PUD amendment would allow temporary operational arrangements while lot sales and clubhouse construction continue. The planning commission forwarded a positive recommendation for the amendment. This was a first reading; a public hearing and additional consideration are scheduled for June 15.
