At its March 10 meeting, the Portsmouth School Board approved routine business including the consent agenda (minutes for both the public and non-public Feb. 10 meetings) and a negotiated contract covering custodial and cafeteria employees.
On the consent agenda the board recorded a roll-call vote on the minutes: Lee Hudson yes; Tish Campbell abstain; Nancy Clayberg yes; Lisa Rapaort yes; Brian French yes; Steve Adler yes; Jennifer (Shump/Chum) yes. The board later moved, seconded and approved a contract that merges two former independent unions into one bargaining unit for custodial and cafeteria staff. Board members who participated in the negotiating team said they believed the agreement to be fair to employees and the district.
The board took no public comment and adjourned after routine committee updates. The meeting included several informational updates from the superintendent and committee chairs.
