Braintree sets Sept. 1 primary and early-voting schedule; Town Hall designated early-vote site

The Braintree Town Council voted unanimously on June 2 to call the state primary election for Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, and to establish an early-voting site and schedule.
Acting on the Town Clerk’s requests and with same‑night action granted, the council ordered that polls be open Sept. 1 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and listed offices to appear on the primary ballot, including U.S. Representative, Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Treasurer and Receiver General, Auditor, Governor's Council (Second and Fourth Districts), state senators and representatives for the districts listed in the order, district attorney for the Norfolk District and sheriff for Norfolk County.
The council also designated Braintree Town Hall’s Cahill Auditorium as the town’s early voting site and approved early-vote hours for Aug. 22–28, 2026 (Saturday Aug. 22 and Sunday Aug. 23, 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.; Monday–Thursday Aug. 24–27, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with Tuesday Aug. 25 extended to 7:00 p.m.; and Friday Aug. 28, 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.).
Separately, Councilor Flareity’s request to refer a proposal to change Ivory Street transfer-station drop-off hours to the Public Works Committee was approved unanimously.
What happens next: Town Clerk’s office will publish official notices and prepare for scheduled early-voting sessions and the Sept. 1 primary.
