The Chesterton Parks Board voted to revise its five-year park master plan to support the town's Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application and approved a $15,000 professional-services agreement with V3 Companies to assist with the application and related design tasks.
Tyler told the board the grant program requires alignment with the town's five-year master plan. Staff recommended changing a proposed Dickinson Road Park dog-park item to Dogwood Park, elevating Dogwood East ball-field renovations and the development of dedicated basketball courts from B to A priority, and ensuring ADA and community-demand priorities are emphasized in the plan.
A board member moved to accept the proposed changes; the motion was seconded and carried. The board then considered a professional-services agreement with V3 Companies (formerly Layman & Layman) not to exceed $15,000 to assist with the Land and Water Conservation Fund application and other potential tasks. The board approved the agreement pending legal review because the town's attorney (Connor) was out on vacation; staff said any additional board action might be required as the grant process proceeds.
Board members said the revisions would help ensure proposed projects are eligible and prioritized in the grant application. The board directed staff to proceed with the revised plan language and to engage V3 for the upcoming application work.
