Baldwin County Commission approves $5.5M in bills, ratifies interim payments and grants potential conflict waiver

The commission then considered the bills presented for payment. The motion to pay bills — described in the meeting record as totaling $5,541,558.70 and covering 798 invoices and distributions — was moved and approved by voice vote.
The commission next ratified interim payments under Policy 8.1. According to the staff report, the interim payments item covered approximately 1,242 invoices and distributions totaling $5,812,650.42; the commission moved, seconded and approved the ratification by voice vote.
On a staff recommendation, commissioners approved a waiver of conflict of interest that would permit Adams and Reese to represent Hancock Whitney in connection with the Baldwin County Commission emergency line-of-credit request for proposals should the firm be awarded the RFP. A staff member explained that "they have not been awarded the RFP, but we do need to grant the waiver if they happen to win the RFP," and the commission approved the waiver motion by voice vote.
The commission also voted to approve GA1, a letter of support for the Prodacy Pantry North Project, a proposed food distribution facility and resource center in Stockton, Alabama. The motion to approve the letter carried by voice vote.
Commissioners offered brief closing comments thanking staff and noting recent Memorial Day events. No public hearings or presentations were recorded for this meeting, and the board moved on to administrative items and adjournment business.
