Resident urges limits on school technology spending amid staff cap concerns

"...are we creating a situation in which because we have a staff cap and because we're encouraging it to grow sort of unabated are we forcing our principals and our superintendent to ask for more and more tech to cover shortfalls..." Bindell asked, urging the committee to examine whether the budget structure incentivizes technology purchases over staffing.
Committee members acknowledged the comment and noted departments had presented budget proposals over the previous two nights. No school or district officials responded during this meeting; councilors said they would continue deliberations and raise outstanding questions at Thursday’s full-council meeting.
