At the start of the June 1 meeting, Mark Cauus and Lori Copus urged the Millsboro Town Council to address longstanding stormwater and erosion problems in the Plantation Lakes neighborhood that they said date back to 2014. They described sinkholes forming at retention basins, washed‑away soil and vegetation, and drainage systems unable to handle storm volumes. Cauus said residents have repeatedly reported problems to the HOA and other responsible parties with limited remediation and requested a comprehensive inspection by the town and relevant agencies.
Cauus asked the town to determine whether facilities were constructed and are functioning as approved, to require responsible parties to correct deficiencies and to keep residents informed of findings and corrective actions. He said residents had submitted documentation to the town (an email referenced May 19) but had not received an update by the June 1 meeting.
Mayor Bob McKe and staff acknowledged the comments; the record shows no subsequent council motion at that meeting directing a specific inspection timetable. Residents hoping for immediate action should expect town staff to evaluate the written complaint and report back at a future meeting or through follow‑up correspondence.
What’s next: residents requested a comprehensive inspection; town staff did not give a firm commitment on the record during public comment and will need to clarify next steps and timelines.
