The Millsboro Town Council approved its fiscal year 2027 budget and appropriated the corresponding funds during the June 1 meeting.
Staff presented a final FY27 budget that incorporated changes discussed in prior public workshop sessions; council voted to approve the budget and then to appropriate funds for FY27. Council members commended staff and interdepartmental contributors for work on the budget process.
During the same meeting council also codified a 3% local lodging tax under the town code (Chapter 183) in addition to the state lodging tax; the council specified that revenue from the local lodging tax will be used for transportation‑related purposes, as discussed in prior meetings. The lodging tax motion passed by voice vote.
Finally, after public discussion and a brief poll of availability, council voted to move the regular monthly meeting start time from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, beginning in July, to balance staff scheduling and public access.
What’s next: the approved budget and ordinance will be posted to the town website and implemented for FY27. The new meeting time will take effect for the July meeting.
