ZBA approves larger monument sign for Henry Ford Health campus for better wayfinding

Kevin Deers of Metro Signs, representing the applicant and the sign contractor, said the monument sign is primarily directional and intended to help older clients find a third‑setback building that has little frontage visibility from the main intersection. "This sign is not intended to be an impulse‑buying type of sign. It's really sort of directional in nature," Deers said.
City staff recommended favorable consideration, noting exceptional site conditions and that the proposed sign would not impair the intent of the sign ordinance. Board members said the sign will help visitors locate the facility and agreed the requested size was reasonable for the campus. Miss Libid moved to accept the staff recommendation; the motion passed by voice vote. The board required that the applicant complete building permits and inspections before installation.
