Board hears Walnut Street housing update — over 800 applications — and routine town project briefings

Interviews for Building 1 are underway, the lottery for Building 2 is tentatively scheduled for July 11, and hard‑hat tours for approved applicants are planned for late July. Staff emphasized that tax‑credit programs require extensive documentation for eligibility and urged timely submission to avoid forfeiture.
Other updates and announcements: Board members reported the grand opening of a ‘Tinker Tank’ maker space at the library; the stadium advisory committee maintains an on‑site representative and a hotline to respond to noise complaints during events; the town manager said the draft RFP for a strategic plan would be circulated to the board ahead of a July 15 vote; and human resources listed multiple open positions, including a conservation agent and DPW water treatment supervisor.
Construction and paving: Officials said traffic signal work on Walnut Street/Route 140 is progressing and that several local streets (Rockill, Market, Union, Gilmore, Centennial and others) will be milled and paved between now and early July. Staff noted a DPW building project is expected to reach completion around Dec. 11 and that the contractor is making steady progress.
The board also reminded appointees to be sworn in with the town clerk and confirmed the summer meeting schedule (one meeting in July and August). The meeting adjourned after the final announcements.
