Another board member urged that the city act to store the logs properly to avoid further deterioration.
Staff said there is currently no funding allocated to reinstall the cabins. Members recalled previous budget language that referenced $750,000 for reinstallation and said more recent estimates had risen to about $1 million. Kim said staff will put the issue on the next agenda, research whether storage or temporary protective measures are feasible, and ask for updated cost estimates and safety steps such as fire extinguishers and site monitoring.
The board requested staff follow up with the contractor and Phoenix One (the architectural/historic contractor discussed) to determine whether the firm can advise on storage or remediation steps and to present options to council if funding is required. No formal motion or appropriation occurred at this meeting.
