Committee endorses moving two August staff-development days to back-to-back dates

The Manitowoc School District curriculum committee recommended that the full board approve a minor calendar change to make staff-development days consecutive in August.
Stacy said the district polled professional staff (234 respondents) and that 89% preferred holding the two staff-development days back to back on Aug. 18 and 19 rather than splitting them. "The results were definitive," Stacy said, describing the recommendation as a staff-centered convenience that does not change student instructional days.
Committee members characterized the change as noncontroversial and suggested it could be placed on the consent agenda for the full board. A motion to recommend the calendar change was made, seconded, and approved by committee voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the committee transcript.
Next steps: The recommendation will appear on the full-board agenda for formal approval.
