The City of Nampa approved several infrastructure and project items on June 1, including park lighting, a construction contract, right-of-way authority and two street-naming ordinances.
Council approved authorization to install lighting at Aura Brant Park's pickleball courts; Parks staff said lights can be ordered and installation could begin within weeks. "The lighting ... can start installation within just a few weeks," Parks and Recreation Director Cody Swander said.
The council then awarded Morello Construction the annual waterline replacement contract for the fiscal 2026 project in the amount of $812,863. The contract was presented as within the approved budget and passed on a roll-call vote.
Council also authorized the Council President and Public Works Director to acquire right-of-way needed for the Canade Road–Ustick Road intersection project and the Garrity traffic and safety improvements, in an amount not to exceed $1,116,704.92. The motion passed 5–1 on the recorded roll call.
Under suspension of the rules the council approved first readings (and immediate passage) of two private-street naming ordinances, naming streets North Gentry Lane and West Cherry Tree Lane. Both passed by roll call.
The council opened a public hearing on a requested variance for monument signage at 2228 E. Chisholm Drive by Braven Idaho LLC but voted to continue that hearing to July 20 at the applicant’s request.
Finally, the council voted to enter executive session to consider labor contract negotiations with NPPEA under Idaho Code; the motion carried by roll call.
