South Harrison students log 3,400+ dual credits, $3 million in scholarships; Academic Super Bowl team places at state

The South Harrison Community School Corporation highlighted year-end academic achievements at its board meeting, reporting that students earned more than 3,400 dual credits and the class of 2026 received over $3 million in scholarships across South Central and Cordon Central.
Allison, a district staff presenter, said the district had 25 students complete the Indiana College Corps (a bundled set of 30 transferable college credits) and noted a first cohort of students earned an associate degree through IvyTech while still enrolled in high school. Allison also reported that the district administered 326 AP exams this year and that, because the state limits reimbursement to two exams per student, the corporation covered costs for additional exams so students would not be charged.
Kyle Jones, fine arts teacher and Academic Super Bowl coach at Cordon Central High School, recognized the district’s Academic Super Bowl competitors who traveled to Purdue University for state competition May 9 and noted the math, science and interdisciplinary teams each placed fourth. Jones named student participants including Quincy Blackburn, Olivia Shrek and others and thanked supporting coaches and staff.
Board members praised the expansion of AP and dual-credit pathways and said they expect South Central to join the AP TIP program next year to support AP instruction. The board recorded approvals for related items on the consent agenda during the same meeting.
