At its June 1 meeting the Sumner City Council approved the consent agenda, which included five 2026 employment agreements naming Doug Beagle as Development Services Department Director, Michael Kosa as Public Works Director, Andrea Marquez as City Attorney, Jeff Stefins as Deputy City Administrator, and Jason Wilson as City Administrator. The consent agenda also included approval of checks and electronic payments (the meeting transcript reads the amount as '10,462,8301'; staff packet indicates checks and electronic payments were listed in the meeting materials). The consent agenda motion was moved and adopted unanimously.
The council also confirmed two mayoral appointments to the Sumner Planning Commission. The council appointed Chris Pierce and Burl Eddie to full four-year terms that expire in April 2030. Community and Economic Development Director Ryan Windish described the planning commission’s advisory role and summarized each appointee’s background; both appointees spoke briefly and thanked the council.
There was no public opposition recorded on these agenda items. Staff said the planning commission appointments are advisory positions that will review zoning, development regulations and policy matters for the city.
