The Eastchester Town Board voted to award a $547,000 contract to Barrett, Inc. to replace the main clubhouse roof at Lake Isle.
Town officials said the existing roof is in dire repair and the work is urgent with the season upon the facility. The Lake Isle manager and Supervisor Kita told the board the low qualified bid from Barrett, Inc. totaled $547,000; the figure exceeded the architect's earlier estimate. The manager said the roof has a crowded layout of mechanical equipment and other penetrations, so installing solar panels at this time is unlikely; the board agreed to consider solar options for a retrofit in the future.
Supervisor Kita said they were late in the process to incorporate solar and emphasized the urgency of completing the roof now. "We are in urgent need of this new roof as the season is upon us," he said. The board moved, seconded and approved the award on a roll-call vote. Funding for the project was confirmed as included in the 2026 budget during the presentation.
Next steps: the town will proceed with contract execution and scheduling with the bidder; the town record does not specify a contract start date or completion timeline in the meeting minutes presented.
