"We're not going to tolerate leaving your car running in the middle of White Plains Road for 25 minutes while you wait for an order to be filled," Supervisor Kita said. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The board then adopted a separate amendment to Article 3 (parking, standing and stopping) to set clearer time limits on Main Street where longstanding 72-hour or unlimited parking had caused problems. The amendment limits parking from the split with White Plains Road through the Mavis Tire block and establishes two-hour limits in a specified stretch that ends near the building the board described in the hearing record. Supervisor Kita said the change is intended to make clear "who can park where and for how long." No public comments were made on this item either.
Both public hearings were opened and closed with no appearances. Each measure was moved, seconded and carried on roll-call votes recorded by the clerk; the board recorded affirmative responses from approving members. The local laws amend Local Law No. 3 of 2000 (Vehicle and Traffic Code), Article 7 (parking fines) and Article 3 (parking, standing and stopping) for the unincorporated Town of Eastchester.
The changes take procedural effect according to the town's local-law adoption process. The board did not provide an implementation timeline in the meeting record beyond noting routine enforcement would follow adoption.
What happens next: the town clerk will complete the formal local-law filing and any updated parking signage or enforcement notices will be posted by highway or parking staff as the new rules are implemented.
