Friends of Wasatch reports TAP grant funded seven trail tables; additional benches covered by local fundraising

A representative identified by staff as Laura reported to the Midway City Council that a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant helped pay for new picnic tables and benches at local trailheads.
"The $6,950 that we received funded 7 of 12 tables that we placed," Laura said. She described placements at the bike-park pump track, Maple Grove, Huber Grove, Midway Reservoir and Dutch Hollow, and said Friends of Wasatch used proceeds from a 2025 "Hit and Giggle" fundraiser to cover the remaining five tables and two benches.
Laura noted the group leveraged scout troops to help assemble and install tables on April 24 and said the new furniture is already being used at multiple sites. She also previewed the Huber Grove Trail Restoration Project, funded in part by a TAP grant, and said staff or partners will need to coordinate with three adjacent homeowners before work starts.
Council members thanked the group for volunteer coordination and encouraged continued grant applications and partnership.
Next steps: Friends of Wasatch will proceed with the Huber Grove trail project when property coordination and permitting are complete.
