Lopez said the 968‑square‑foot unit is owner‑occupied, has operated as a short‑term rental in previous years under prior owners, and that she has run it minimally since taking ownership in 2021. "I do live in it," Lopez told the board when asked whether the unit is owner‑occupied.
Neighbors spoke in support: Eric Norton said Lopez's operation has been quiet; Rich Ministry, who assists at the Stillwater Ranch Farm, described guests as respectful visitors who often come to walk nearby trails and visit the lavender farm. Staff confirmed the property is on septic and that police/fire raised no objections. The board found that the use was appropriate for the site, would not adversely affect the character of the area, and would not unduly burden town services.
The board moved, seconded and approved the special exception unanimously. The board confirmed that the approval runs with the land and does not require annual reapproval unless the ordinance changes.
