DCA announces executive appointments and new trainings to the board

Shelley Jones of the Department of Consumer Affairs updated the California Board of Naturopathic Medicine on Nov. 19 about executive-team changes and new mandatory training for board members.
"We are very excited to announce we have two new members to the department's executive team," Jones said, introducing Lucy Salvar as deputy director for board and bureau relations and noting her own appointment as assistant deputy director. Jones also reported that Department Director Kimberly Kirkmeer plans to retire at year'end after 36 years of service.
Jones reviewed mandatory training: DCA launched a new sexual-harassment prevention course in its learning-management system on Oct. 27 and the new module will be automatically assigned to members' LMS accounts based on the regular two-year cycle. "If you've completed the 2024-2025 version of sexual harassment prevention training and you did that during the 2024-2025 calendar years, the new training will be automatically assigned to your LMS account..." she said. Jones also said DCA will add an unconscious-bias training tailored to board members and incorporate it into onboarding for newly appointed members.
She closed by reminding members they may contact DCA member relations for help accessing training and that the Department's executive-team changes and staff support will be available to the board going forward.
