Prince George's County Committee of the Whole voted unanimously, 8-0, to move favorably two resolutions: CR 52-2026, concerning modifications to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission's system development charge to finance water and sewage capital projects, and CR 58-2026, a fiscal year 2027 budget reconciliation to align the county's portion of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) annual budget with the county appropriations ordinance.
Council member Orieta introduced both resolutions and identified herself as sponsor for each. CR 52-2026 was presented as a measure to modify the system development charge (SDC) and to establish procedures for the SDC's implementation and collection to help finance capital expansions of water and sewer systems in the WSSC service area. CR 58-2026 was presented as a reconciliation of appropriations for Prince George's County's share of the M-NCPPC FY27 annual budget with the county's FY27 annual budget and appropriations ordinance.
A motion to move CR 52-2026 favorably was made and recorded as properly moved by the vice chair and seconded by Council member Burrows. The clerk called the roll; Chair Orieta and the eight members named on the roll call — Adams; Adams Stafford; Burrows; Denoga; Hunter; Ivy; and Vice Chair Olsen — each recorded an "aye," and the clerk declared, "Motion carries 8 0." The same process followed for CR 58-2026: a motion moved, a second recorded, a roll-call vote with all members voting "aye," and the clerk again announcing the motion carried, 8-0.
Votes at a glance: - CR 52-2026 (resolution concerning the WSSC SDC): Sponsor — Council member Orieta. Motion mover — Vice Chair Olsen. Second — Council member Burrows. Outcome — moved favorably by roll-call vote, 8-0. - CR 58-2026 (FY27 budget reconciliation for Prince George's County portion of M-NCPPC budget): Sponsor — Council member Orieta. Motion mover — Vice Chair Olsen. Second — Council member Burrows. Outcome — moved favorably by roll-call vote, 8-0.
The Committee took no further action on other items during the session and adjourned after the votes. The clerk announced the results and the presiding official closed the Committee of the Whole.
