Holy Angels tells Caddo Parish it serves 200 people with disabilities and needs help covering rising supply and medication costs

Lauri Bosle, chief executive of Holy Angels, thanked Caddo Parish for prior support and outlined operating pressures affecting the nonprofit’s long-term care and school programs.
Bosle said Holy Angels serves roughly 200 individuals with disabilities, including about 180 in residential programs and roughly 100 participants in a day program called Angel Works. She said 13 group homes operate in the community and the nonprofit now serves children ages 2–21 through the Holy Angels Academy.
Bosle cited rising costs for medical supplies and medications that are not always covered by Medicaid; she said the supply-and-medication budget for Madonna Hall’s complex-care residents equated to $165,000 last fiscal year and that many specialized medications require out-of-pocket expenditures. She also described workforce challenges and said the organization had added a $3-per-hour increase to starting pay for hourly employees to help with recruitment and retention.
On eligibility, Holy Angels told commissioners that residential admission generally requires a developmental-disability diagnosis established before age 21 and that day-program and school services may accept children with autism and bill Medicaid or commercial insurance for therapeutic components. Bosle asked commissioners to consider both supply and personnel needs when setting future appropriations.
