The Wauseon City Council unanimously approved the mayor’s appointments to several boards and commissions, including reappointing Lisa Smith to the Charter Revision Commission.
Councilor Heising moved to approve the mayor’s appointments and Councilor Tyina seconded; the motion carried by a recorded 5–0 vote. Council members praised Smith’s long service and noted she has previously served on council and as an at-large commission member.
Council received a Park Board report detailing several items: sample materials circulated for park placement, a decision to table certain items until the next Park Board meeting, approval to install three AED stations across parks, and an order placed for directional signage to help visitors find the pickleball courts ahead of tournaments and the homecoming event.
Department head Keith updated council on homecoming preparations, reporting coordination with the event equipment owner to ensure fire lanes remain clear for large rides and a paving schedule for Bolton Street with a following block planned after July 4. Keith said at least seven applications for the groundskeeper position had been collected and that applications would be accepted through July 28 at 3:00 p.m.
Council members also discussed parade logistics, noting the parade will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and that meeting and staging locations will be shared with volunteers. Members cautioned residents and staff about hot weather during the event and encouraged use of shade and hydration for volunteers.
Council approved the payment of bills as presented later in the meeting and adjourned following routine motions.
