The Wright County Board of Commissioners on June 2 proclaimed the Younren family as Wright County's 2026 Farm Family of the Year, recognizing four generations of farming near Waverly and recent investments in the dairy operation.
Administrator Kryser read Resolution 2640, which cites the University of Minnesota Farm Family Recognition Program and the Younren family's multigenerational contributions to agriculture and the local community. Taylor Herbert, a University of Minnesota extension educator, presented details about the farm's history and operations, noting the family milks 150 Holstein cows, raises about 40 butcher steers and completed a new calf barn in January 2024.
"Please join the board in congratulating the Younren family and recognizing the positive effects they have had on our community," Administrator Kryser read in the proclamation. The board moved to adopt the resolution, and the motion passed by unanimous roll-call vote. The board and attendees applauded and took photos with the family.
The county noted the family will also be recognized at the Wright County Fair during the livestock blue ribbon auction and at state-level Farm Family Recognition events.
