Following a bid opening earlier in the meeting, county staff recommended awarding the Bridge 132 contract (County Road 200 West over a Salt Creek tributary in Liberty Township) to the apparent low responsive bidder Dunit Bay Construction Company. Commissioners approved the recommendation by motion.
Staff said the county received multiple bids and that the apparent low bidder conformed with bid review criteria. The county noted the contract completion date is scheduled for Sept. 7 due to delays in bearing fabrication; staff said they contacted fabricators to accelerate the schedule where possible and would accept early deliveries and accelerate construction if materials arrive sooner. INDOT projects affecting nearby closures on US 6 and Meridian Road were reported to be on track to open by the end of June.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract award and proceed with scheduling and coordination; the contractor will work to meet fabrication and delivery timelines and the county will monitor progress and public notifications for detours.
