The applicant described the project as a 155-foot tower sited near existing buildings and parking on a parcel developed as a mine in an M3 zone; he said Verizon would take the top position and the tower would be designed to allow collocation by other carriers. "It's 155 feet tall ... Verizon's going to take the top spot but Tower Co intends to have the tower sized to have other people to collocate there as well," the applicant said.
Commissioners said improved wireless coverage helps public safety (for example by reducing dropped calls and aiding 911 access) and asked about lighting and maintenance; staff noted standard lighting and monitoring conditions apply and that the tower would be unmanned. The commission voted to recommend approval by voice vote.
