Pleasanton proclaims June 2026 Pride Month; local advocates thank council

The Pleasanton City Council issued a proclamation declaring June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, reaffirming the city's commitment to inclusion and equal protection under the law.
Laney Pascal of PFLAG Tri-Valley accepted the proclamation on behalf of the group and introduced other chapter leaders. "Pride Month is both a celebration. It's a reminder of our resilience and our joy," Pascal said.
Donan Harris, founder of the local PFLAG chapter, recounted his family's experience with students and schools and urged continued support for safe schools and community acceptance. "When students know that they are safe and respected and seen and understood, it creates an environment where they can really blossom as themselves," Harris said.
Council members and the mayor thanked PFLAG and recognized community work to increase visibility and support for LGBTQ+ residents. The proclamation passed without recorded opposition. Staff and community members posed for a photo following the presentation.
