North Ridgeville City Council voted unanimously June 1 to authorize a three-year lease of a 500-square-foot storefront at 7059 Avon Belden Road to My Simple Cleaning LLC.
Mayor (acting) told council the lease, at $600 per month, is the third attempt to fill the space and said adding an emergency clause would reduce uncertainty for the prospective tenant and preserve city revenue from the property. The mayor moved to dispense with the second and third readings and to add an emergency clause; the motion was seconded by Rogerson and carried on a roll-call vote.
Council discussed that the tenant is a resident and that moving quickly to finalize the lease would be in the city’s interest. No dissenting votes were recorded when the ordinance was adopted with the emergency clause.
Ordinance 2026-58 authorizes the mayor to enter into the lease; the measure was presented as a way to keep city-owned commercial space occupied and producing revenue. The council did not discuss specific lease-exhibit terms beyond the length, monthly rent and square footage during the floor discussion.
The council moved on to other agenda items after adopting the ordinance; the mayor closed his report by noting other municipal projects and community events scheduled for June.
What happens next: with the ordinance adopted and the emergency clause in place, the administration may proceed to finalize the lease and execute the contract.
