The Madison Plan Commission approved a multi‑item consent agenda during its June 1, 2026, meeting, adopting a series of largely uncontested staff recommendations ranging from a short‑term lease to permits for Mount Zion Baptist Church.
The items passed by unanimous consent after the chair read the agenda and no commissioners requested separation. "Seeing no hands raised, the consent agenda is passed," Chair Ganam said.
What the commission approved included: authorization for a 36‑month lease between the city and 3517 West Beltline LLC for clerk's office storage at 3517 West Beltline Highway (Legistar 93126); a zoning text amendment to Madison General Ordinances section 28.141(8)(E)3B to exempt electric‑vehicle parking requirements at long‑term airport and intercity passenger facilities (Legistar 92925); an amendment to section 28.104(7) to allow a different building footprint for stories above the first floor in the transit‑oriented development district (Legistar 92926); a certified survey map in the town of Burke to create two commercial lots and one outlot (Legistar 92835); and three related approvals for properties at 2017, 2019 and 2029 Fisher Street for Mount Zion Baptist Church — a demolition permit (Legistar 92855), a conditional‑use review for a TRC‑4 structure exceeding 10,000 square feet and for a community center addition (Legistar 92840), and an approving certified survey map for Mount Zion property (Legistar 92841).
The commission also approved the May 11 minutes; Commissioner Heck stated he would abstain because he had not attended that meeting, and the chair recorded that abstention before the minutes were approved.
The approvals were taken on consent with no public commenters registered to speak at the meeting. Planner Ford told the commission there were no live registrants "not this evening," and noted that written comments had been uploaded for commissioners to review.
Next steps: items approved on consent will advance according to standard administrative processes or to any subsequent review steps specified by staff and city ordinances. The planning staff record and Legistar entries list the specific conditions attached to approvals.
Votes at a glance: all consent items (Legistar 93126, 92925, 92926, 92835, 92855, 92840, 92841) were approved by the commission on June 1, 2026, by unanimous consent; the minutes approval recorded one abstention by Commissioner Heck.
