The Board of Public Works approved award of contract C26‑07 to construct a water line from the Main Street water main to serve the Parkside O property. Staff said the pre‑bid cost estimate was about $64,000 and that the recommended total allocation—bid plus contingency—would not exceed $73,000. Park fees and previously budgeted engineering funds were identified as the funding sources. Staff explained the work is being scheduled in advance of Main Street reconstruction next year to avoid digging up a newly rebuilt road.
A councilor asked whether the water job was tied to another project; staff responded it is being done now so it will not require re‑disturbing the road after next year’s reconstruction. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the contract award.
Staff noted the requested contingency (about 10–11 percent) was higher than typical to allow flexibility on a small contract. The award authorizes staff to execute the contract and proceed with construction under the stated funding limits.
