The Bolingbrook Arts Council’s Visual Arts committee reported May 19 that a swinging-bench collaboration with the Knights of Columbus and the Bolingbrook Park District will be delivered at the end of June. Mithra Zaucha provided the update and said the Knights of Columbus will return requirements by June 1 to guide a call for artist proposals.
Lea Moore-Beulah said banners for the current Art in the Windows installation, “BLOOM,” are being added this week and that all participating artists have been notified. The committee also confirmed a recent call for artists for upcoming installations and discussed logistics for the Bolingbrook Arts Expo at the Village Picnic on June 28; Kathleen Lamb was asked to draft a standard operating procedure and share it with Commissioner Jesse Gaffney to finalize the event process.
The committee discussed not holding Arts on the Row this summer and instead focusing resources on the Village Picnic and the Arts Expo. No funding actions or contract awards were recorded in the minutes; the Parks District and Knights of Columbus will provide project requirements before the council issues a formal artist solicitation.
