Road Superintendent Porter presented proposals and invoices, naming Central Asphalt (amounts presented in the record) and a Dickinson/Dickerson invoice; during the discussion staff recalculated the combined total and identified a $1,007.84 adjustment to the total. The board approved the two separate contractor amounts (the motion accepted the two individual contractor figures rather than the initially reported combined number) and specifically voted to issue a check to Central Asphalt for completed work on Dawson Lane "subject to approval of the engineer" Avant.
Several supervisors expressed dissatisfaction with Highway 18 Number 6 work. One supervisor said, "I'm not satisfied with the work that's being done on the road," and asked what corrective actions would be taken. Road staff and the engineer explained that aging subsurface utilities and limited ability to use compaction/vibration in older areas had constrained compaction options and could explain uneven roadway appearance; staff said crews would return to address identified laps and driveway lap-overs and that the contractor had already corrected some problem areas.
The board carried the motion to approve the contractor payments and to issue payment to Central Asphalt after engineer approval; the board asked staff and the engineer to follow up on outstanding quality issues and produce corrected invoices and documentation as needed.
