Architect updates Tunica supervisors on library design; parking integration flagged as concern

Tunica County received an update June 1 on the county library project from the architect team. Mister Wallace (S7), who presented drawings and 3‑D views, said the project is in the design-development phase and that the team expects construction documents to be finished by the 15th of the month.
“We completed the design development phase, which means next phase will be total construction documents that we hope to have finished by the 15th,” Mister Wallace said, describing civil, architectural, structural and mechanical drawings and noting the design includes roughly 8,500 square feet of building area.
Wallace told supervisors he is concerned about parking because the layout is tightly integrated with circulation and the building face. He described two options: include parking in the prime contract now or treat parking as an alternate and have the county perform parking work separately after the contractor completes base work. “If you don’t want to do that, I think we need to include it because I don’t know we might have a mess there if we don’t,” he said.
