Tunica County supervisors approve multiple contracts, fleet changes and construction pay application

At its May 18 meeting the Tunica County Board approved terminating a lawn contract and re-awarding it to Pops and Sons LLC, agreed to fleet lease modifications that reduce monthly charges, approved an equipment purchase and a Thompson Cat repair payment, accepted bids for county land sales, and approved a $327,595.48 MDOT pay application for the Expo Walkers Center Trail.
The Tunica County Board of Supervisors approved several routine but consequential procurement and payment items during its May 18 meeting.
Miss Stewart asked the board to terminate the county's contract with On The Way Lawn Service (Tony Frazier) and award the grounds maintenance contract to the alternate bidder Pops and Sons LLC (Rodney Liberson) effective immediately; the board approved the termination and re-award. Meeting materials indicated the new award increases cost by roughly $83 over seven months compared with the prior contract term.
Miss Turner explained modifications to the fleet management lease affecting 56 vehicles that will reduce monthly charges by $7,736.67, bringing the new monthly total to $20,707.48; supervisors discussed rotation schedules and asked staff to prepare a resolution for Enterprise to effect lease modifications. The board also approved a sole-source purchase for a 50-ton lowboy trailer in the amount of $97,045 and a Thompson Cat repair payment for a motor grader in the amount of $7,008.35.
On real-estate matters the board accepted bids for county-owned parcels (a 3.1-acre tract bid by Ricky Matthews for $25,100; a 1.1-acre tract bid by Yancey Investments for $6,000) and approved those sales.
The board also approved a pay application associated with the MDOT contract for the Expo Walkers Center Trail, awarding payment of $327,595.48 to Wildstone Construction Services; staff noted that the project carries an 80/20 match (county share applies where applicable). Additionally, supervisors approved a transfer of $100,000 from an employee benefit claim escrow account back to Tunica County.
All motions on these items were moved, seconded and recorded as approved by voice vote.
