Selectmen report on capital projects, appointment decline and zoning item tabled

Selectman Bruce M. Glowac said the Capital Committee will meet March 16 and that a subcommittee recently reviewed dog pound building plans; the Animal Control Officer presented a building wish list and preliminary designs are expected by mid‑April. Glowac also reported the Centerbrook Meetinghouse floor and building support reinforcement project is complete and the Meetinghouse is back in working order.
First Selectman Norman M. Needleman said the town is working within a tight budget and requested a follow-up meeting with bond counsel; Finance Director Tracey Celentano said she would arrange that meeting. The board noted that Robert A. Boender had been appointed as Assistant Building Official at the Feb. 18 meeting but declined the appointment and has retired.
On a separate procedural item, Selectman Bruce M. Glowac moved to table an agenda item titled 'Exempting Town from Zoning Regulations'; Stacia R. Libby seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Needleman also asked that a proposed Amended and Restated Ordinance Regulating Hawkers, Peddlers and Vendors be placed under New Business at the next meeting for further consideration.
