The Essex Board of Selectmen heard details about the town's Semiquincentennial celebration, including a gala, performances and community events.
"The Gala is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Essex Train Station from 7 pm to 10 pm. Tickets are available for purchase and are $125 per person," Selectman Stacia R. Libby reported. She said any excess funds from the gala would be used for family-oriented events connected to the celebration.
Libby also announced a Dreamscapes Marketing & Design video highlighting people and places in Essex and said the Middletown Symphony will perform in July. A red, white and blue "touch a truck" family event is planned for August. The tree warden is arranging purchase of a Valley Forge tree to be planted in Ivoryton Park; a tree-planting ceremony will be scheduled.
The Semi-Q committee will meet next on Wednesday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room A to continue planning.
