Dunn County approves vouchers, land‑use permits and nominations; tables inclement weather policy

The Dunn County Board of County Commissioners approved a broad slate of administrative items during the May 20 meeting.
Auditor Sally Whittingham presented the voucher list, which included general, road, capital and building warrants; the board approved the vouchers as presented. The voucher list included a JE Dunn Construction capital warrant for $664,099.00. Whittingham also presented an annual Gaming Site Authorization for the Killdeer Saddle Club; the board approved the permit.
Code Administrator Sandy Rohde presented two Conditional Use Permits: Central Specialties Inc. (represented by Alex Thompson) for a temporary batch plant on property in section 25‑146‑96 (Permit #03‑2026) and Colton Medley for a temporary light industrial use on a 10‑acre tract in section 30‑145‑96 (Permit #04‑2026). Commissioners Heiser and Olson moved to accept the CUPs as presented; the motions carried unanimously.
Human Resources Director Dessie Calihou presented a second reading of the Inclement Weather Policy. Commissioners discussed clarity in the policy text; Commissioner Olson rescinded his motion to approve the second reading and moved to table the item for a future meeting, which the board approved unanimously.
The board also voted to nominate Carie Boster for the NDACo Excellence in County Government Award in recognition of her 14 years with the Job Development Authority, and approved a letter of support for the University of North Dakota’s application to the U.S. Department of Transportation 'Safe Streets and Roads for All' grant program.
The meeting adjourned following completion of the agenda items.
