Union County Council votes to keep members enrolled in PEBA health plan

Chairman Phillip G. Russell II explained that the PEBA Board had amended the definition of "employee" and was requiring participating employers to submit an addendum indicating whether councilmembers are included. "If you want to continue that you would vote yes, if you would like to change that you vote no," Chairman Russell said. Councilman Danny Bright moved to dispense with committee referral and continue to consider councilmembers as employees; Vice Chair David Sinclair seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Council did not specify additional changes to benefits or funding during the meeting; the vote preserves the historical practice for the county and directs staff to submit the required addendum to PEBA if needed.
